Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) on tap for Wellabled

Shackleford's graded stakes winner Wellabled is among the likely favorites in this year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) Nov. 4 at Santa Anita Park.

With wins in the Arlington-Washington Futurity (G3) and $100,000 Fitz Dixon Memorial Juvenile S., Wellabled is Shackleford's leading runner from his first crop. Shackleford's 11 winners to date ranks in the top five on the Freshman Sire list.

The Juvenile Turf will almost certainly have a full gate of 14 runners after 19 2-year-olds were pre-entered in the one-mile race, which is the sixth race on the Friday card.

Wellabled is just a head loss away from being undefeated in four lifetime starts. Owned by Carolyn Wilson, Wellabled was named a TDN Rising Star following his 7 ½ maiden special weight debut victory at Arlington Park. The bay colt sold for $340,000 at this year's OBS April 2-year-old sale.

Official post positions for the Breeders' Cup will be drawn on Oct. 31.
