Blazing Graduate fires off maiden tally

Top-10 Freshman sire Magna Graduate's latest winner came Aug. 17 at Louisiana Downs when Blazing Graduate scored a length and a quarter victory going a mile and 70 yards. The bay juvenile is the fourth 2-year-old to visit the winner's circle for his sire, who is one of only three first-year sires to have a graded stakes winner.

Blazing Graduate bested the field of eight with a three-wide move in the late stages, forging to the lead about an eighth-mile from the wire, then pulling clear nearing the finish line.

Bred in Kentucky by Ben Walden Jr., Blazing Graduate is one of eight winners out of his dam Blazing Kadie. Her second foal Blazing Fury won the Grade 3 Saranac H. at Saratoga on the way to a career earnings mark of $514,048.
