B G Suavecito gives Suave another repeat winner

B G Suavecito ran his record to two-for-two with an allowance victory Sept. 11 at Retama Park. The son of Darby Dan freshman sire Suave broke his maiden May 28 at Lone Star Park. Suave has the second-most repeat winners for freshman sires and has a reported 84 two-year-olds in his first crop.

The two-year-old colt won the 5 1/2-furlong sprint by a comfortable 1 1/2-lengths after opening up a three-length lead in midstretch. Bred in Kentucky by Westwind Farms, B G Suavecito is one of four winners from as many starters out of multiple stakes winner Cupids Revenge, by Red Ransom. With the victory, he ran his earnings to $22,860 for owner Benjamin Gonzalez.

A nine-year-old by A.P. Indy out of multiple Grade 1 winner Urbane, by Citidancer, Suave won seven of 27 career starts over four seasons and earned $1,348,423. He won the 2006 Washington Park Handicap (G2) at Arlington Park in track-record time of 1:53.53 for 1 3/16-miles. His other graded wins came in the 2005 Saratoga Breeders’ Cup Handicap (G2) and the 2004 Northern Dancer Stakes (G3) at Churchill Downs. He also finished second in the ’05 Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1).
