$250K filly tops Shackleford’s day 1 KeeSept results

Shackleford, whose first crop are yearlings of 2015, had two of his offspring sell for six figures in the first session of the Keeneland September Yearling sale, with a filly bringing $250,000 and a colt hammering for $100,000.

The filly, hip No. 159, was consigned by Jim and Pam Robinson’s Brandywine Farm, was purchased by Arthur Watson, Jr. The striking chestnut youngster is out of the stakes-placed mare Champagne Royale, who is also the dam of Arkansas Derby (G1) winner Danza and Gold Cup (G1) winner Majestic Harbor.

Consigned by Clearsky Farms, agent, hip No. 194 was bought by H. & T. Meyerhoff. The colt’s dam Cure for Sale was graded placed in both her native Argentina and the U.S. 

Shackleford, who had a $340,000 yearling colt at the Fasig-Tipson Saratoga Selected sale, has an additional 51 juveniles catalogued during the remainder of the Keeneland sale.
